About India Miller
India Miller (52) is regarded as being one of the UK’s most influential hair designers with a consistent quality, style and energy at the leading edge of hairdressing. Having entered the business at the age of 19 she plays a key role in the development and growth of this highly successful family brand which now includes 5 successful Edinburgh salons, a training academy and a host of industry accolades.
From Europe to America, South Africa to Korea, the Middle East and in Asia she spearheads the Charlie Miller Artistic Team with husband Jason Miller. Since the mid-90s her extensive schedule has been packed with seminars, workshops and masterclasses as well as a wide range of innovative and stimulating industry hair shows for events such as the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Finals in London, Bologna, Shanghai, Mondial Coiffure Beauté in Paris and Ssh! in Sydney Australia to name but a few. From imaginative photographic works published in the world’s leading hair magazines to advertorial and editorial photo shoots for L’Oréal Professionnel her inspiring work continually influences and motivates. Jason and India have also been regularly called upon to judge prestigious competitions such as the prestigious UK and Irish L’Oréal Colour Trophy and the British Hairdressing Awards.
Holder of numerous industry honours including a place in the British Hairdressing Awards’ ‘Hall of Fame’ in recognition of three times winning the British Hairdressing Awards’ ‘Scottish Hairdresser of the Year’ title with Jason, India has also received ‘Newcomer of the Year’ and the Association Internationale Presse Professionnelle Coiffure’s (AIPP) ‘Grand Trophy’ and ‘Best Avant-Garde Fashion Collection’.
As well as commissioned underwater fashion shoots with Styling Editor, Damian Foxe and top underwater photographer, Zena Holloway for the Financial Times ‘How to Spend it Magazine’ and Birmingham Royal Ballet other session work has included ‘heading the looks’ for 11 years at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Aside from the many demands from industry bodies and organisations throughout the world, her talent and expertise is frequently called upon on a local level to create hair styling for high profile events including the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
India has worked on photo shoots, product launches and education with Shu Uemura as Honorary Brand Ambassador for Shu Uemura Art of Hair UK.
Alongside the thousands of clients who return time and time again, India has tended to the tresses of some of the leading names in the film, TV, music, fashion and modelling industries including amongst many others Anna Wintour, Joely Richardson, Charlize Theron, Irina Shayk, Bar Refaeli, Kirsty Hume and Jodie Kidd.
India is an accomplished cook (both parents are chefs) and she also loves to garden whilst art and architecture feature highly on her list. She is also passionate about yoga and practices 4-5 times a week. She and Jason share their home with miniature dachshunds, Arlo & Sid and have 2 grown up children; Isha (27) who lives and works in London and Isaac (24) who is a professional rugby player with Worcester Warriors.
