Styling this look begins with the prep. A serum is necessary as this look is quite polished and requires minimal frizz - the pro-approved Pureology Shine Bright Taming Serum is one of our favourites because it nips those flyways in the bud whilst creating a shiny finish that is necessary for the perfect ringlets. Next, curl your hair starting about 2 inches from the top in the same direction for a rippled effect. To complete this style, spritz in some Redken Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist for added shine that makes your waves the centre of attention!
Your hair glory is your length, we don’t blame you... and there are few party hairstyles for long hair better than the fishtail braid to give you the credit you definitely deserve. The fishtail braid, although appearing difficult to achieve, is actually much simpler than it looks. To start, you want to get your hair nice and texturised (it’s best worked on hair that is a day or two old vs. squeaky clean hair). Try shaking in some L’Oréal Professional Techni.ART Super Dust styling powder before you begin styling for the perfect volume and texture to perfect this look.
How To Do A Fishtail Braid: To begin, pull hair back into a ponytail and secure with a disposable clear elastic. Next, divide the ponytail into two smaller, equal-sized ponytails. Then you want to separate a half inch section of hair from the outside of the left ponytail. Pull this piece across the top of the left ponytail over to the right ponytail (don’t twist as you bring it across). Then you’re going to separate a half-inch section of hair from the right ponytail and then pull this piece across the top of the right ponytail to the left ponytail. Continue to weave the pieces from the left to the right until you’ve run out of hair - don’t worry if it’s messy, it’s part of the look! When you’re done braiding, secure with a small elastic and pull apart the strands for a chunky look. Cut off the first elastic you used to secure hair in the beginning. Add your gemstone barrette of choice for a stunning party hairstyle that will land you heaps of complements.
