“It is very important that the hair suits the dress , so if you have decided on what dress you are going to wear I always ask if I can see it so it goes with the overall look and design. Every element of your look should compliment one another; from your hair and makeup to your dress and flowers so it looks incredible put together on the day , but never moves too far from the real you.” – Hanna Karlsson

Well-placed, bespoke accessories (which is a whole category in itself!) is one of the biggest trends of 2019 wedding hairstyles. With so many options out there and endless ways to wear them, hair accessories are the perfect way to inject some originality into a day based on years of tradition. They work perfectly for short hair wedding styles too as they are so dynamic;
“Accessories are a modern way to make your look more luxurious, the one thing to consider when it comes to hair accessories is that it should lift up an up-do and not be there to cover something up. I would try to find something that goes within the theme of the dress or your flowers that you have chosen. But keep it delicate.”
Some of our favourite wedding hair accessories include:
“To take inspiration from the catwalk, add one (or two) chunky hair clips on one side of the parting. Chose one with pearls on for an extra romantic look.”
All these accessories pair well with loose curls or a bouncy blowout to elevate a simple style into something striking, transforming your big day look into something truly memorable.
Loose waves have a tendency to find themselves on top wedding hairstyles lists, and the results speak for themselves. Totally timeless for long hair wedding styles, brides are opting for effortless waves that create an easy softness that is beautifully captured in the pictures to come. The effect is the opposite of spending hours in the chair- even if you have! If you have poker-straight strands or hair that doesn’t hold waves well, a simple solution is to add hair extension for more grip. Finally, texturising spray can help to keep the waves in place so you can get down on the d-floor all night long without worrying about your ‘do.
“If you have a natural poker straight hair but like waves then some good advice would be to have parts of the hair up, either plaited or twisted, to make sure it will hold in place better until the evening. Meet your stylist for a consultation and talk the big day through and what your wishes are and they will give you all the expertise and advice to make the most of your hair. “ – Hanna Karlsson
For the bride that wants the best of both worlds, the half up half down hair bridal style has gotten a makeover for 2019! We’re throwing out the rule-book on this style, swapping out the tried and tested method of a voluminous half ponytail for face-framing layers secured with adorned bobby pins. Ultra-sleek and modern for a feminine flourish. A classic wedding style still hot in 2019 for those with medium to long hair.
For striking symmetry done right, look no further than a blunt bob as one of the top short hair wedding styles. Paired with bold earrings, this is the perfect way to accentuate your shoulders and draw attention to the details of your dress. Put your boldest face forward on your biggest day yet!
What’s a wedding hairstyles list without a mention of the chignon? This french classic has experienced a revival that from here on out will be referred to as the recent royal wedding effect. Loose tendrils are the icing on the cake to bring the chignon warmly into 2019.
The lob aka ‘the long bob’ is the ultimate cool-girl bride style, offsetting any gown for a modern look. No-fuss brides can opt for simplicity with a more controlled style, the key here being texture. The more the better for fashion-forward edge.
Depending on the type of bride you’ll be (and hopefully not the one that ends in ‘zilla’) a chic bun could be the perfect style for you. For the ultra-stylish bride, minimal volume and a clean bun allow your dress and makeup to shine. Smoothing products instead of hairspray helps to avoid a too-set style. Alternatively, something a bit more undone and natural (without looking dishevelled) can be the perfect choice for the bride after a more relaxed look.
Beautiful bridal braids are also on the rise, ranging in style from romantic to boho chic to modern mode. A braid that is gently pulled out and tousled creates a more whimsical, lived-in appearance, ideal if you’re after a softer look.
“Style beach waves with an extra touch by adding a volumunious set of hair extensions. These work well those with medium to long hair, the extensions will make the waves last longer throughout the day and night. Ask your hair stylist to add more waves so the style can afford to drop.” – Hanna Karlsson
Raise a glass to the blushing bride and long lasting hairstyles (and marriage, of course!).
